Taipei, April 7 (CNA) U.S.-based PC brand Dell Inc. launched its Android smartphone in Taiwan Wednesday as part of the computer vendor's effort to cash in on the rapidly growing mobile market.
The Dell Venue, which has a 4.1-inch AMOLED touchscreen and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 1 GHz high-speed processor, aims to attract mobile customers from Taiwan's business sector, in which Dell has already gained a big share by selling a great number of commercial PCs.
The smartphone will be carried by Taiwan Mobile Co., the country's second-largest telecom operator.
"We found that consumers have become more demanding for the always-connected devices, including notebooks, tablets and smartphones, " said Nick Wang, Dell senior sales director for Taiwan's consumers and small- and medium-businesses, at the launch of the new phone.
"Since smartphone sales in Taiwan are still growing fast, we will not be absent from the market," Wang said.
Wang added that Dell also plans to launch two of its tablet computers in the country -- the 7-inch and 10-inch models, both of which run the Google Android operating system. However, the launch has not been scheduled yet. (By Jeffrey Wu) enditem/ly |
